Regatta Workbench provides a number of the more commonly used team points systems. Since there are so many systems and variants, it also provides ways to customize these pre-built point systems and, also, a way to add completely new systems as plugins.
By default, none of the Regatta Workbench points systems award team points to composite crews. From USRowing Rule of Racing:
5-204 Composite Crews Composite crews are those that include competitors from more than one club. Such crews shall be ineligible to receive points or other scores used to determine team trophies or awards, including those described in Rule 5-307. Once a crew has been entered as a composite crew, it shall remain so, regardless of subsequent substitutions.
Barnes-style points systems
The standard Barnes scoring system is described in the 2019 USRowing National Championships Entry Packet and the USRowing Rules of Rowing, and it's used by USRowing for the Sulgar-Barnes trophy and other points trophies. For a history, see

The unmodified, vanilla Barnes points system is implemented in Regatta Workbench's 'Standard USRowing Points System'. It simply applies the Barnes points table to all entries in each event's grand final.
Regatta Workbench's 'Modified Barnes Points System' is an updated version of the basic Barnes system --- based on what's used at many other regattas. If there are multiple crews from the same organization in the same grand final race:
- Only the highest placing crew from each organization in the grand final is awarded points.
- Points are awarded by place only, regardless of whether any higher-placing crew was or was not awarded points.
For example, let's say there's an 'A' and a 'B' crew from Team 1 in a final 4+ race. Here's how points would be computed with the Modified Barnes Points System:
